Title: And another first
Post by: SpekJones on December 28, 2011, 07:31:03 PM
Took off yesterday morning to do some calling, and took the kids along.  On the way in
we spotted a couple wolves up on a steep aldered hillside. They were running when we spotted them and working towards the top of the ridge.  By the time we got the rifles out they were getting on out there a ways.  My grandson got a rest with his
30-06 and shot once and missed, chambered another round and nailed one that
was on the run.   I didn't have a range finder so just estimating the range, but
I think it was easily 300 yds.  He outshot me, I winged 2 rounds at a grey and never touched a hair.
This is the wolf, laying where it stopped after sliding down the mountain.

Yep, I asked him what he wanted to do with it and his quick reply was
"keep it for a wall hanger".
